If Trump puts 50% tariffs on essential Canadian automotive parts sent to USA manufacturers and Canada places a 50% surcharge on hydro sent to the USA automotive manufacturers, will it not be less expensive for USA automotive manufacturers to move their production to Canada for their export markets?

A subsequent USMCA dispute panel actually ruled in 2023 that Canada’s administration of the dairy TRQs did not violate the agreement. So once an agreement entered into and signed by Trump is not worth diddly squat.

Canada is giving the US discounts on oil and energy as well. That might be one of the first benefits for the US to go.
