The completely rewritten new version indoorco2map.com App is now available for both Android and iPhone. It removes the biggest problems of the old App, especially location search which is now very reliable and also a lot faster (usually <1 second) but also features dozens of small improvements. 1/n

The Indoorco2map.com Website got two small updates, both related to the adoption of the Global Open Indoor Air Quality Standards (GO IAQS) from @goaqs.bsky.social. First change is the option to display the Air Quality of the locations in its 3-Color scheme representing Good / Moderate / Unhealthy.

As just mentioned. The location search has been a weakpoint of the old app, it was slow and especially lately very unreliable, often needing a few attempts to get a result. It relied on a public free API which was easy to use and had no cost at all.

The only disadvantage of the new system is that it is only updated daily, however for the rare cases where user themselves add new locations to OpenStreetMap which they instantly want to measure, the previously used public API can be optionally be enabled in the Settings menu.

A small but useful addition is that Location Results can now be sorted by alphabet or distance and there is also a search field, handy in places with numerous results like large malls.

Transit Mode now features a map preview of the selected transit line - this is especially useful as some lines have non-intuitive names not related to train numbers (especially for long distance routes).

The old map only took around 2 hours of data from the sensors (longer if not set to 1 minute but longer intervals. In the new App there is no such limit anymore and you can theoretically record a whole week or longer - although I hope you don’t end up being stuck in a supermarket for that much time.

A history page has been added which shows all your own recordings. This is stored locally on your phone, it can be exported to a file and imported on other devices - so you can keep your data if you change phones etc. This feature can be disabled in the settings.

Using the history menu you can also delete measurements if you notice any mistakes in them or want to remove them for any other reasons. This deletes them not locally but also from the online dataset.

There is a still very much work in progress statistics screen, a news page, many settings in the settings menu to customize the app to your likings and also a usually invisible alert if there are major outages with the database or other systems required for the app to work.

Finally the app has a bit more polished look and I hope you enjoy using it a bit more than before. I want to thank everyone who tested the preview versions of the new app, without you the app would not be ready for release already!

There is a lot of more things coming up in the next weeks and months related to the project which I will write about soon. It’s been quite a challenge to do this complete rewrite while working fulltime in a completely unrelated full time job, but I think it was worth it.
