Rears & Vices is about Royal Navy career man Everard Anderson de Anglada [Mr. Stern and Buttoned-up in the middle], who is forced to judge the court-martial of his former lover Vitaliy Gray [Mr. Protective on the right] and finds out the man has been—oops!—an infamous pirate the whole time. 🧵

Why is he Gray? Asking as a curious Russian 😅

Hi! Vitaliy is American (and technically a bastard besides) and uses his mother's Quaker maiden name as surname. If he'd taken a patronymic it would have been Gavrilovich - but the closest he comes to this is to use his grandfather's name as his pirate alias, V. Varfolomey (from Varfolomei).

With the help of Everard’s former lieutenant, Preston D’Arcy [Mr. Classic Clinch on the left], jailbreak ensues—and when Vitaliy asks for Everard’s hand in (pirate) marriage, Everard finds himself (and D’Arcy) commandeered: all the way to the Gulf of México. 🧵
