First of all Axios your story is full of lies: 1. Roughly 50% are telework/remote ELIGIBLE. 2. Currently only 2% of federal employees work remotely or on telework not the 94% you try to elude to. Get your fucking facts straight. Assholes! #JournalismIsDead

This is a Trump scam. Trump is hoping to trick those federal workers into leaving their jobs. Those workers will never receive any buyout money. Trump has a history of not paying people what he's promised them. Look at what the people who have worked for him say. Trump is a cheat.

GET IT RIGHT AXIOS! This is no buyout WTH does that even mean coming from a HR professional! Dear GOD tell the truth. He is getting rid of those positions to move the money to pay his debts

For those asking whether this is legal: There are currently 2 statutes, PL 107-296 and PL 108-136 (for DOD), that allow the govt to offer voluntary buyouts. Under these laws, the maximum buyout allowed is generally $25,000. So it's unclear where they are getting the authority to offer 8 months pay.

How could anyone believe that they would actually follow through on that? What idiot would choose that when we have no idea if we will even have jobs to apply to in September. I hope all the Trump supporters in government take the deal.

How will this save taxpayers money? If people take the buyout, they’re on paid administrative leave for six months. So they’re paid for not working, & others will be hired to replace them, costing even more. You’re exchanging qualified people & replacing them with Trump loyalists with no experience

3. Federal Employees Have Telework Rights - The Telework Enhancement Act of 2010 (5 U.S.C. Chapter 65) protects telework arrangements. A blanket return-to-office mandate that overrides existing agreements could violate statutory rights and collective bargaining agreements (5 U.S.C. Chapter 71).

2. Reductions in Force (RIF) Must Follow Regulations - 5 CFR Part 351 requires agencies to use retention registers based on tenure, veteran status, and performance for RIFs. If the email's proposed "deferred resignations" bypass these protections, it may constitute an illegal backdoor RIF.

From Amy for you Forced Resignations Are Illegal/5 CFR § 715.202 Federal resignations must be voluntary. An email implying "uncertainty of your position" while pushing resignation deadlines may be coercion, which could be challenged as constructive discharge under MSPB precedent (Baldwin v. VA).

Messy Project 2025 is being implemented. The not smart people who wrote it are going to see this soon backfire immensely.Trump doesn’t seem to know a thing of what is going on letting them take care of destroying American lives. It is time to start preparing for protests against what is happening

Fed here. My limited survey suggests no one is taking the offer. Too good to be true is the general consensus. BTW, where would the money come from? The government is operating on a continuing resolution which ends on March 14. Clown car express.

All federal workers or ones who work part time from home? This is confusing. You mention Postal Workers but not Air Traffic Controllers. Presumably neither can work from home so…

“The worst thing you can possibly do in a deal is seem desperate to make it. That makes the other guy smell blood, and then you’re dead.”- D. Trump (Art of the Deal)
