AI is not a tool of honor... No highly esteemed deed is made by it... Nothing valued is created by it. It is dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.

30 years ago, my family was visiting relatives in DC. I pestered my father that we NEEDED to see this movie HERE, and we watched ID4 with a DC audience. Today, invaders destroying American landmarks and Americans of different backgrounds working together to defeat them hits a little different.

DIDN'T TAKE LONG. This is what you call "committing to the bit."

According to the mathematics of comedy, when they lose a THIRD fighter jet by tumbling it off the side of a boat, that will be genuinely hilarious.

This came up in a slack discussion the other day: what would be on your personal Mount Rushmore of RPGs? (For non-Americans, this means 4 games) For me, it's Star Wars KOTOR, Mass Effect 1, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Ys Book I & II (TG-16 CD-ROM).

There's a lot of frankly tedious debate about whether We're In Fascism Right Now. Whatever your view, I hope we can all agree that "government shock troops disappearing dissidents into their gulag network" is a pretty basic example of fascism. www.discourseblog.com/p/this-is-wh...

discourseblog.comThis Is What Fascism Looks LikeGovernment shock troops disappearing a dissident into their gulag networkβ€”that's pretty cut and dry.

Holy shit. It's well past started.

Columbia grad student with a green card and a pregnant US citizen wife, abducted by ICE because of his political organizing, and now his lawyers can't find him. Hey, @schumer.senate.gov. This is your constituent. Bring him back home.

I think it’s not helpful to repeat claims that the administration is working on eliminating β€œDEIA” as though it’s some kind of corporate strategy; just say explicitly that they’re trying to eliminate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and explain how.

Inside you there are 500 miles, and inside you there are 500 more.

Inside you are three rings for the elven kings under the sky, seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone, nine for mortal men doomed to die, one for the dark lord on his dark throne in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie.

Ex Libris, whose headquarters are in Jerusalem, has condemned the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel. They have not condemned the systematic destruction of schools, universities, libraries, archives, or lives in Palestine. I know librarians whose jobs have been threated because they did so.

Don't fall for the propaganda that Jimmy Carter was a bad president. It turns out presidents can't influence inflation like we think, and as time goes on more information comes out about the Reagan campaign's conspiracy to prolong the Iranian hostage crisis beyond the election. #RIPJimmyCarter

🎼🎡 Bring a torch, and also a pitchfork. Bring a torch, to Frankenstein's home! There's a monster attacking the village, It is alive! and someone's shouting; Ah! ah! terrible is the Monster Ah! ah! terrible is his Bride! πŸ”₯πŸ”±πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈ

History is not just a random collection of stories that we learn from or try not to repeat. History is how we got where we are. History is a series of causes and effects. Knowing the causes of bad things helps us to fix or prevent them. Knowing the causes of good things keeps us from losing them.

I've seen the media editorialize at length about the morality of the shooting, but feign objectivity and neutrality about the morality of insurance companies causing preventable suffering and death.

I don't think one immoral act justifies another, but the immoral actions of UnitedHeatlhcare certainly led to the murder of its CEO. The shooting was only a symptom, and if we don't see reform, I'm afraid of copycats who won't be as discerning about their targets or methods.
