Anyone in Los Angeles have a telescope with a Hydrogen Alpha Quantum Filter? There are crows who are flying across the sun in Long Beach right now and it would be super cool to get a shot of them flying across the chromosphere. If anyone is in circles with folks they can hit me up, I have thoughts

I went back down to this location 2 days ago and I realized that the crows aren't roosting in Long Beach, their staging in the palm trees next to the ocean and then flying over to the port and likely roosting at the port. This means they'll fly across the Sun if you stand on the pier

We have a couple months to do this, I believe. Till mid November or so. I'm going to go down to the pier tonight and see if I can get them with an ND filter, it's entirely possible they don't fly high enough to go past the sun.

Alright I'm down on the pier,era see how these crows fly. I'm not at the end of the pier but can always adjust.

You can't tell in this video, but in the actual stills you can see crows flying near the sun about 35-25 minutes before sunset. Sometimes directly in front. This is a big lead. Hopefully back tonight to skip the sunset timelapse and just stick an dark ND filter to see the kind of density we get.

I went down to scope out the Long Beach murder, and tonight they didn't take the path. I don't think I'm back to square one as across the 20 minutes before sunset youll get a couple of bird moments, so it's probably worth to start looking for a telescope. PROBABLY! 🪶
