Why repost an old shoe flapping racism when you could repost this skeet below about a super cool holiday boutique in Los Angeles on Saturday 11/7⬇️

LA-area folks who support reproductive rights, here’s a great way to do it! Shop at LAGRH’s holiday boutique on 11/7! Tackle all your gifting needs, stock up on baked goods, and pick up an emotional support chicken or two.

Online betting was already illegal until the Supreme Court said that PASPA was unconstitutional in 2018. This whole rotten industry sprung up in less than a decade on a technicality. I think it could be a winning platform but it will invite a flood of opposition spending against proponents.

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

I advocated for the recently-passed laws that exempt environmentally-beneficial projects from CEQA, from bicycle, pedestrian & transit improvements, to new housing within existing cities. But I'm voting NO on Prop 45, because it will make it far easier to build things that harm our communities.

Patrick Siegman – California issues@patricksiegmanca.bsky.social

“CEQA was enacted at a time when new highways and highway expansion was destroying communities, and a big part of the reason to create CEQA in the first place. Prop 45 would roll out the red carpet for just the type of projects that we created CEQA to prevent and mitigate in the first place.”

Redondo Beach Unified HS is exceptional amongst affluent suburban schools in transportation. 10/20/20% mode share transit/walking/biking (including ebikes). You can see Metro 232 and BCT 102 in this picture. Bike rack of city main library across the street from RUHS

International readers may not know that only 10% of US schoolchildren walk or bike to school. People outside of California may not know that Prop 13 killed funding for school buses. Kids take regular transit, if it’s available. RBUSD provides buses only for a few disabled students. wapo.st/4kj90Qw

This is really anomalous for the US. No school buses. A few “school tripper” peak buses added to a regular transit line. Attention to safe routes to school. Parents that are buying ebikes instead of cars for teens. 500-600 bikes, mostly w/ school children, pass thru Flagler/Beryl intersection

On Tue., Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. ET, I'm presenting my IBC proposal to a committee work group (one of many) to allow elevators to open into exits if dwelling units are also allowed to open directly into them. Essentially it would remove the "corridor penalty" for adding an elevator to a single-stair...

I'm voting no on Prop 45, because we can't create a situation where highway expansions get a CEQA pass, but high speed rail can still be blocked. All for the environment, lol. It's moronic, and yet that's what this law would do. Handcuff the train to the highway BS. Then we'll talk.

People think that IZ requirements force developers to take lower profit margins. In reality, developers have to deliver competitive returns to investors so IZ means nothing gets built until market rate rents are high enough to cover development costs *and* the necessary cross subsidy for BMR units.

The US is not about to have a free and fair election. The state has put its thumb on the scale to favor the ruling party in multiple ways. It's a mostly free, somewhat unfair election. But still one where the ruling party can be overwhelmed by numbers. Hence the term "competitive authoritarianism."
