Huh. It's still saying Lake Ontario on my Google Maps phone app.

Thankfully I've already downloaded the Mapquest app which retains all the original nomenclature... Some of the data may be a little out of date but the more that more people use it the more it'll improve... apparently over the last few days the Mapquest app has had a spike in downloads, lol 3/3

Maps.me is really good for offline maps, but you have to download each destination. Worked really well in Cuba. But I don't remember if they have public transportation options in the maps.

Interesting. When I search for lake America I get some doctor's office in Florida. When I search for lake Ontario I see the picture above. I also suggested an edit.

Mine sure has - checked at 8 AM this morning. Apple and Mapquest still have Ontario.

Looks like USians get "Gulf of America" but the rest of us get "Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)".

From Canada, via US VPN but keeping French localization, you get the bizarre “Lac Amérique”.
