I don't know if this is "weird" so much as "my life" (which IS undoubtedly weird). Growing up as a Western kid in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia during the 1980s influenced my story "The Beasts at the Oasis." I actually used a few things I learned in my social studies classes there.
