I'm an author who writes autobiographical nonfiction and fantasy furry fiction. My other projects include recording audiobooks, mastering new technology, and perfecting anxiety disorders.

I reached out to lots of artists about the cover for my upcoming book, heard initial interest, and then silence. My publisher is established in the furry world and represents a great opportunity. Consistency opens the door to more and better work. Don't leave me hanging. I *want* to work with you.

This is my way of saying "if I reached out to you and you fell silent, please get back to me." The ship has to leave the dock one day, and I'd love to have you onboard.

Bonus: if we work well together on the first book, there are at least two others planned after this one in the series. I would love to have the same artist for all the covers.

Conservatives must be pissing themselves with fear to be doing this. What an invasion of privacy for that voter too. Furries, they are afraid of us! Get out and vote! ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ

a friend in Dallas got this gem of a political text today. The PAC, Texans for Common Sense PAC, is funded by Texans United for a Conservative Majority PAC, of which a GOP mega donor named Tim Dunn, who you may have heard of, is a major funder of.

In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, Iโ€™m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

Ways to improve your odds of acceptance: 1. Read some stories from the publication to get a feel for what the editors like. 2. Has the editor specifically posted messages about what they'd like to see? If so, don't ignore them. 3. Review your story after every rejection and refine it. [1/2]

For God's sake, do NOT reply to rejections with insults to slush readers and editors. I can't fathom why anyone would think this is a great idea. Like that's going to change our minds...? Swiftest way to get the ban hammer.

Ways to ruin your chance of an acceptance: 1. Make it personal. It's really not. 2. Assume everything you write is flawless. Even the Kings, Gaimans, and Clancys of the world revise their work. 3. Ignore non-optional submission guidelines. Writing work requires a thick hide and humility. [2/2]

Me? I'm a dark sci-fi/fantasy author who makes George R. R. Martin's levels of violence look like two kittens fighting over a ball of yarn. Sometimes I do trippy takes on computers and animals blending together. Oh, and I also write horror, just to lighten things up occasionally.

Okay folks of the #WritersCommunity, I have an interesting indie marketing prompt challenge... Give us your elevator pitch, for yourself! What is your author brand? How would you sell yourself?

AI is here to take "no" away from us. It is here to stop us from thinking critically, from imagining better worlds and futures, and from having the capacity to see any way to live other than the one we are allowed to have. The goal of shoving AI down our throats is to make us one-dimensional.

The idea is to strip people of their resourcefulness and creativity in pursuit of "intelligence on a meter, like a utility." So don't play along. There are other places to share your creations with the world. Besides, it's a short step from this to selling AI slop. www.youtube.com/shorts/5e9QH...

-IMPORTANT- Gumroad has recently updated their website with the intention of phasing out the ability to manually edit your storefront and allowing you to only edit your storefront via AI agents. I will be dropping gumroad support entirely in the near future. More to come as I sort things out.

*cracks his knuckles* Monday day job after a punishing on-call shift? Got it. Submission for Uncanny Magazine? On it! Submission for Nightmare Magazine? Coming up! Barry Allen has nothing on me.

Figured it couldn't hurt it to crowdsource this: looking for a vintage typewriter-y keyboard with the same wood-and-brass look as this one. (This model sold out.) Any recommendations? Mac keycaps and Bluetooth connectivity preferred. www.aziocorp.com/collections/...

Hey, guess who's got two thumbs and is opening to submissions on Aug 24? It's THIS MAG. Actually, I guess the magazine doesn't have any thumbs, but Iโ€”JJAโ€”do, and I'm eager to get them all over dem horror stories after 6 years out of the editorial chair. I guess it will mostly be my other fingers.

TFW someone participates in a long engagement thread about your work, but it's actually about them getting work from you. Yet oddly it was good exposure for me. Authorial life is weird.

Beasts & Brutality officially entered layout today. It's a weird and satisfying feeling. The word-smithing is complete and the rest is presentation and formatting. I've also locked a firm confirmation from a *great* artist for the cover. Can't wait to share his work with you all when it's complete!

My employer has decided that they'd rather split my salary between two people outside the US than continue paying for me, so I'm staring down the barrel of unemployment at the end of this month (again). This is bad news for my immediate financial needs, but good news for my writing time. [1/2]

I'm polishing and submitting some stories in the hope they might generate a little income. Beasts & Brutality is down to just the cover and printing prep work. There's also a non-fiction book I'm determined to complete while I have time. Maybe, someday, I won't need a fickle IT day job. [2/2]

I've usually got a song in mind while I'm writing something. Since "Hive Mindset" is approaching release, I wanted to post a "suggested pairing" for the tale. The tough bit is that it's both a dark comedy and a bleak parable. So let's start with the bleak... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcg-...

Fun thing I discovered today: the artist behind Plott Hound 6's cover also did some Star Trek art for Magic: The Gathering! I'm trying really hard not to explode with excitement over all this. I'm truly honored to be sharing a publication with artists of this caliber.
