I was about 80% ready to buy a new car today. At the dealership: lowballed the trade-in 🚩 finance rate 2% higher 🚩 my rate made car more $ 🚩 I walked out without a car. Now they’re begging me to come back to make a deal. I was already to make a deal when I was there before. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Car buying sux.

Honestly I was really thinking I’d leave with the new car. All the had to do was beat my pre approved APR and give me the reasonable amount on trade — and not raise the price of the car in the process. Car has been there for 270+ days. They truly don’t want to sell it I guess. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I remember a story on Car Talk about buying a new car and the best advice was what you did, be okay with leaving without a car. If they want you back give them an APR to best and be prepared to walk again. Good luck.
