Bellingcat has geolocated the site of a mass killing in north-east Syria. The Ayn Al Arab (Kobani) area is affected by recent fighting between Damascus-aligned forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Matching distinctive features visible in aftermath footage taken from a video posted on Facebook, Bellingcat was able to geolocate the spot (36.77610, 38.30759). The video shows a man alongside at least 20 bodies. (Face and bodies blurred by Bellingcat.)

The victims appear to be dressed in civilian clothing and several can be seen barefoot in footage. Bellingcat has not been able to verify their identities. However, the victims reportedly belong to the Arab community. www.newarab.com/news/syria-s...

In response to the footage, the SDF said one of its fighters had photographed himself alongside the bodies of people it claimed were armed and killed during clashes with Damascus-affiliated forces and that the man in question was dismissed and referred to a military court. sdf-press.com/en/?p=19601
