It’s easy as an analyst of elections to go for the wild predictions, but Antony has built his credibility by letting the data do the talking and not making predictions without a solid basis.

Personally he has always been supportive and collegial to myself and has been generous in sharing his enormous knowledge of Australia’s elections. He’s always happy to answer a random text and we worked together on our book chapters for a number of recent election books.

I’m sure this won’t be the last we see of Antony. I hope he’ll find a way to use his deep knowledge and experience to better inform us about Australian democracy away from the immediate rush of election night.

Also congrats to @caseybriggs.com for the new role. I've known Casey for a long time since he did a student radio program in Adelaide about elections and I would come on as a guest. He's a smart journalist and psephologist, and is a great choice.

I have read quite a bit of Malcolm’s work and met with him a few times. If I get more time after the election I want to do more electoral history work and would want to do some on his legacy. But Antony has also achieved a level of universal credibility that I’m not sure Malcolm had.
