I thought this would be a comparatively light week after '91, but I'm midway through my homework for this poll and what's become readily apparent is that 1) '92 was a big year for (mostly Japan-only) RPGs, and 2) this was just a *phenomenal* year for the Genesis/Mega Drive, both games and music.

Am semi surprised at the lack of gaiden mentions in lists here so far given how high shadow dragon got. Also, part of me feels a little bad putting super Mario kart up that high, but when it hits it REALLY hits, and I'll stand by that.

Also also, next year only has two big Nintendo games I can think of (Kirby's adventure and Star Fox) and honestly it might be one of the last years without a lot of strong Nintendo picks (though I think there's gonna be heavy competition coming up too), so that's gonna be interesting.

Sonic 2 Master System was the soundtrack of my childhood and I strongly recommend anyone unfamiliar who likes the JP Sonic CD soundtrack give it a listen. It has several shared composers (and leitmotifs even). Prolly has no shot at the top 10 which is sad coz it would've been in my final top 10!

By the way, are cancelled games eligible for the poll? And if so for which year if they were released eventually? For example Star Fox 2, would that count for 1995 or 2017? Apart from SF2 there are two notable cancelled Follin games coming up rather soon for '94, Moto-X also finally released in 2023

Don’t know about the others but if they eventually got official releases, that’s the year it counts. Not when they were supposed to come out.
