ohhh i would love to be the quiet, inobtrusive observer here!
so beautiful!
Ive been writing /reporting about wolves (self)-reintroduction to my beloved home of the Rockies literally my entire career/life...
finally into (starting) a final book on their jny-- and mine!
Thank you for posting.
I wonder what hibernation has to do with that. Bears need to get fat to last through hibernation, so expending a lot of energy to catch salmon doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Wolves hunt all winter so leaping into rivers to catch salmon is a rational reason for the energy expenditure.
Big shout out to the fish the black wolf dropped to grab another one. Fish is probably talking shit to his boys about how he scared the wolf so he let him go. Respect
My experience is not the same, When bears would get into are fish totes it was always bite the head off and the stomach leave the best part of the salmon
That's why a lot of them go upstream at the same time. They just keep coming until the predators are too full and then the rest of them get through at least for a while.
