You couldn’t protect consultant, it’s used across all jobs - frequently businesses use consultants and so on.

Titles linked to statutory GMC registration—such as Registered Medical Practitioner, General Practitioner, or Doctor of Medicine—are already explicitly covered under Section 49.

Protect medical practitioner? How would that work? Medical ≠ doctors, and this isn’t confusing to us as members of the public that’s highly patronising. Jobs can be done by anyone who can do that job. Doctors can’t be replaced as a task shouldn’t be protected to a profession.
