Great article by Oana Olteanu “Against Usefulness” that centers @folkcomputer.bsky.social while describing “the stage before useful, who works on it, and who pays for it, so that the next generation of useful companies has something to stand on”

Oana Olteanu had a great AMA session with @acm.org just over a week ago - you can rewatch it here @bmann.ca - www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VxJ...

Yes, Olteanu is great - I know her a little bit because she used to drop into our community calls at my last startup, Fission, which worked on some of the pieces that ended up leading to atproto.

Olteanu used to drop into early Fission video calls, she’s legit in connecting to what’s next. I also look at what’s next but my skillset is more about shining a light on it when it’s time to spread the ideas. @cwervo.bsky.social spoke at @causalislands.com Berlin 2024

Fun atproto connection: we held #ATProto_NYC 2025 in @cwervo.bsky.social’s studio in Brooklyn, who unfortunately ended up being out of town - I was bummed we couldn’t share it then. Now is very much the time to think about what’s next. A lot of what’s now isn’t working for a lot of people.
