Total bullshit, of course. I've been to DC restaurants innumerable times over the last 10 years. No robberies, obviously. He's lying to his sucker fanboys correctly assuming they'll believe anything he says -- that, and he knows most have never actually been to DC.

Trump on DC: "Nobody wanted to eat out. They were afraid. Even if you were in the restaurant, people would walk in and like the Wild West, 'Hold it up!' Everybody is standing there. Can you imagine? A fancy restaurant. They were robbing the whole restaurant. It's crazy."

My grandpa was from Corinth,MS but moved north to Kenosha,WI after WWII for work. We would go back to Corinth every year for Easter and for a very long time Tupelo was the closest "big" city that had a mall and they would brag about going to Tupelo.

When my great grandmother passed away in the early 90s one of my cousins from Corinth told us, in a very excited voice, that she saw a limousine a few days before. During that same visit we ordered a bagel at a local restaurant and the waitress looked confused and asked what that was.

And when the cousin that saw a limousine heard us speak with northern accents she said, "Ya'll are Yankees!" To which my mom replied, "I didn't know the war was still going on."

They've been playing off this information disadvantage for at least two decades, making rural people resent cities. Someone needs to find the right language to turn it all around.
