sounds, character design, game engine, and even the music engine is custom-built to be more efficient than midi. It's often attributed as the game that kicked off the indie genera, and for good reasons. I love seeing the creator of other indie masterpieces paying his homages to mr. Amaya. 2/

Cave Story is freeware, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone who hasn't played it yet. Even after 20 years, the game is so much fun to play. You can find it at www.cavestory.org/download/cav... (I recommend the doukutsu-rs version, which is a community-built rewrite with many more features) 3/3
