Ok, so I like Jeremy and think you should absolutely rank him in your top 3... but I do not understand the opposition to a power line to WashCo. Like, yes some of its power is gonna be used for data centers, but even without that there is load growth in WashCo that needs to be met.

Portland General Electric is commenting on my posts as far back as March 2025 shilling their “new” version of the Harborton Project. The new proposal’s key change is a $5 million remediation fund to replace the up to 20 acres of Forest Park they’ll clear to build transmission lines for data centers.

As far as I understand, the project mostly benefits North and Northwest Portland, rather than Washington County. I fail to understand the opposition to it.

Hey! Thanks for bringing this up. Here’s a few issues I have with the project: 1. It’s in complete opposition to the Forest Park Management Plan which specifies that we need to foster Forest Park to ancient forest status. Cutting down 400 trees resets the clock on that.

4. It’s the project that makes the most sense for shareholders, not us. There are other options that may cost more, but will make more sense in the long run to reach our electrification and climate goals.

I'll give this a shot - It's a corporate privatization of public parkland for the sole reason is that it's cheaper than steering the lines around the park and paying a "market" price to the railroads.

As someone who has a difficult time visualizing what an acre of forest looks like, I looked it up and it was helpful context that Forest Park covers ~5100 acres.
