After today's discussion and rejection of any attempt to strengthen the City's draft Moda Center term sheet, I am less and less convinced that it's worth making this public investment even if EVERY item in that term sheet is agreed to by the team (it won't be).

Multiple entities had an opportunity to use data to make an economic case for why the Blazers and their 41 home games are worth hundreds of millions of public dollars: - The Oregon Legislature - The City of Portland - Multnomah County - The Blazers NONE of them did.

This isn't just about bad process. It's an irresponsible outcome. "Just trust us, we can't afford to lose the team" is a 3rd grade argument. If the case cannot be made with data, the public CANNOT be asked to make that large of an investment.

It really feels like we're all being gaslit. Isn't that a BARE MINIMUM for ANY public investment? Am I missing something?

It's 2026 and it feels like this decision needed like one person with an advanced degree in economics and an Internet connection, and nobody can be bothered. If you are a member of the public and feel your elected leaders are failing you, you're right.
