Anyone help here?

Anyone ACTUALLY restored a sticking/squealing tape? My original CPC Dizzy has lost it's mojo. I see reccomendations about using silicon lube, but also warnings not to! :( @breakintoprogram.co.uk ?

ive had success in the past with ultrasonic cleaning them in ultrogen from Allendale, then rinsing in alcohol. trouble is thats more for mold and contaminants, if they've gone sticky from degredation theirs not many options
