Actually, this beauty came from a collector here in the UK. My MZ-80K with the replacement keyboard, however, had to come all the way from Japan and that wasn't cheap!

Someone has popped up out of the blue claiming to have ‘made’ Elite for the MZ-700. It’s amazing how cynical I’ve become in such a short time but what are the chances of this. Never seen them in the MZ community before, not been any WIP screenshots - just a fully formed game ready to play today.

Ooh, I love a bit of Space Harrier: www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5n_... 😂😀

40 years ago, Elite was advertising Space Harrier and Scooby Doo. Space Harrier was released just before Xmas but not sent to mags so reviews appeared afterwards. No surprise: It was shite. As was C64 Scooby Doo ('tho it was much better on Spectrum/Amstrad).

I keep thinking I'm going to start making my game (an idea I've had for a long while to extend a game I made as a teenager in DOS) but then I see all this stuff about AI and get depressed and wonder whether I should bother. I guess I shouldn't think that way but it feels overwhelming sometimes.

My Z80 skills are at an average level I suppose. I can make the game but fed up with hearing how people just type a sentence into Claude or whatever and an entire game pops out. It's dispiriting.

Damnit, forgot the alt text : Starflight (DOS), Elite (BBC), Matrix (VIC-20), Quake (DOS), Benefactor (Amiga), Arkanoid (DOS or C64), Wizball (DOS or C64), Monkey Island (DOS), Starglider (DOS).

I see that someone has used #AI to create a Sharp MZ-700/MZ-80A emulator. Sigh. I can guarantee that my #PicoMZ emulator for the MZ-700, MZ-80K and MZ-80A is completely AI free, so all of the bugs are of my own devising 🤪

A few screenshots for #Sharptember - This is the English language version of Tookato's excellent graphic adventure game "Ropoko" for the Sharp MZ-700, coming very soon now on physical cassette tape from Sharpworks :)

Joachim has put together an awesome package here full of his great games for the Sharp MZ and to top it off he created a really cool manual in the style of the old club newsletters we used to have back in the day. It's a fun read but also looks so cool. Please check it out! ko-fi.com/s/f0e274af58

A few years ago, I was working on making a dungeon crawler for the Sharp MZ-80A. It used a mix of traditional character graphics and pseudographics. Development eventually stopped, and it's been sitting around collecting dust since then.

I’ll be there with my MZ-80K, MZ-700, Lunar Lander and some other bits and pieces. It’s looking to be a fun weekend!

Making progress with my next version of the #PicoMZ. Japanese graphics ROM implemented as an option for the MZ-700, some annoying keyboard bugs squashed, an upgrade to Pico SDK 2.3.0 being tested. There's more items on the todo list, but I'm aiming to release v3.1 later this month. #RetroComputing

Looking good! Written for R&L BASIC 700-4, but can work in standard Sharp BASIC (however currently the colours will be slightly wrong if S-BASIC is used, I believe Roy is updating this and will be fixed later). Just showing off how terrible I am at Tetris :D

I have just released a version of my ALTAIRIS game for the Sharp MZ-700 !! Feel free to check it out! loudscotsbloke.itch.io/altairis-sha...

Another awesome arrival today :) According to the seller they are rare. Certainly not seen them before myself, and inside the cassette case there are tonnes of printed instructions (in very small type).

Another nice arrival today :) three more titles for the collection, never knew these existed. Just when I think there can’t be many more releases to collect for the MZ, more always seem to crop up!

I’ve not seen many videos of Retro Fest pop up but this is a really good one. Sadly I was often away from my table as I had a horrible tickly throat that meant I couldn’t hold lengthy conversations with folks. Had to keep ducking outside with my water bottle. It was a fantastic event though!

This post is unavailable.

This is shaping up to be a really fantastic event with a huge number of exhibitors. I’ll be there with my MZ-700 and MZ-80K. Tickets are still available for the Sunday !

We're going to do it all over again! Very excited to announce RetroFest 2026 to be held at Swindon's STEAM museum on the 30th/31st May. If you'd like to exhibit, just full in the form - and if you'd like to come, why not buy a ticket! They also make wonderful Christmas presents :) - retrofest.uk
