“I debated Mehdi Hasan and got fired for it” is going to turn into a viable grift for several of these fascist douchebags. This is why you don’t platform fascists.

One of the top donors on that fundraiser is named Elijah Schaffer. That’s the same name as the right-wing pundit who was inside Pelosi’s office on J6 and who got fired from BlazeTV for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman he worked with. Might just be a coincidence, but 🤔🤔🤔

Hasan says he was tricked and didn’t know he was going to be debating actual fascists, but he’s still promoting the hell out of the video and acting like he claimed victory over a bunch of irl Pepe the frog memes.

I feel like this is turning into the theme for these videos. The person "surrounded" gets mislead about the composition of the people around them because looney toons make for funnier videos.

okay, but irl pepe the frog memes are very clearly the actual threat? tim pool is literally in the white house press pool... "don't engage with nazis because you're just platforming them" is nice in theory, and would make sense if they were still on the fringes of 4chan/8chan. but it's not the case.

I'm getting really sick of these takes, because where are alternatives on how we actually reach these audiences, then??? it's been over a decade now of young men being radicalized by youtubers and podcasters and it should be SO fucking obvious by now that "just ignore them" DOES NOT WORK.

class solidarity and a legitimate economically populist agenda is, on a broad horizon surely the answer. but needless to say that has a lot more barriers to success than "let's get the fascist to admit they're a fascist so everyone else can see they're a fascist."

Fundraiser is over $10k now btw. Comments in the donations are a mix of 4chan jokes, blessings and prayers (esp from Catholics), and racism and antisemitism

I put most of the blame for this on Jubilee btw, but I’m still pretty annoyed to see Mehdi Hasan using this to pump up his subscriber numbers and talking about how he picked apart these clowns.

I didn't watch all of it but Hasan didn't exactly win either. He used the same tactic that the T administration uses of taking over someone to win. His points were correct but when Daily Show correspondents do the same thing, they give the idiots a chance to look stupid with their mouths hung open

Part of me - totally here for it. Another part of me - why do these chucklefucks get airtime and actually reasonable people don’t? This isn’t a good idea. The fist part of me - I don’t know man, look at the White House, it’s time to try everything to see what sticks. And Hasan was sick as hell.
