Republican Lament First he came for the rule of law, and I did nothing, for I am above the law. Then he came for my fabricated enemies, and I did nothing, for that was the point of fabricating them. Finally he came for me, and I was tossed aside, for there was no rule of law to appeal to.

Why does news just report whatever they claim? If I claim that the president is a pedophile will they just print that too? <checks notes> Sorry, bad example. But the answer is still no. They won't print what I say, true or not, but they print whatever he wants, no questions asked.

The administration makes releases like this understanding the mainstream media will absolutely never put it in context. It’s like saying Government Issues Alert On Possible Ghost Attacks. The first time I realized this exploit was when Bush did his terror alert bullshit.

Oh, ffs. Just say what you mean, you don't like the result and want people to think it's fake because..., well, you are simply a lying lier who lies.

This is just pure racism. Republicans objectively are campaigning on little more than bigotry.

The generality principle of the Rule of Law is its most essential concept. A class of people outside criminal law is incompatible with a law-based society.

The treatment of Republicans by media seems to match the ownership. Not new or weird, but I am tired of it.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

I remember when media did a whole bunch of stories about Joe Biden’s shoes to emphasize that he was old. But Trump can randomly blurt out random noises, fall asleep constantly in meetings, and walk like a drunk failing a sobriety test, and we get almost nothing.

JD - I've got 15 free minutes before my son's hockey practice ends, so let me see how many of Trump's enrichment schemes you didn't see that I can remind you of. 1/ First one is easy: Trump has executed over 30,000 stock trades, many on inside information, netting him millions.

Trump loves that Vivek Ramaswamy ad exploiting the family tragedy in which his opponent was raped as a child. Trump says God deserves thanks for the ad. Only fake Christians could vote for these lowlife Republicans.

More reason, as if we needed it, to say "posts are not policy" and stop paying attention to them.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

you know Natalie was absolutely beaming when she hit "Post" on this one (Trump is still on stage so he certainly didn't)

What is the end game here? We take out all the people who weren't born here? But that will still leave a lot of people they don't want. So send back all the people who have parents that weren't born here? (DTrump, too?) There are still tons of non-white, non-Europeans that are 3rd generation.

The new flack at DHS openly pushing "remigration."

I, for one, have longed for humanity to be interstellar or at least space-faring species. But it's certainly not our destiny or even our collective wish to be. It can be a goal to spread beyond our planet but nothing requires or expects it on an evolutionary or logical basis. This is weird god talk.

David Ho@davidho.bsky.social

Absolutely not. Humans evolved to live on Earth and there’s no other place that has the right amount of everything we need, like climate, liquid water, mix of oxygen and non-toxic gases in the atmosphere, magnetic field, gravity, puppies, kittens, etc.

Yay, CT! We're up front!

Expand the court and bring in term limits and ethics rules. Then make it clear that businesses are not "people" and that unlimited election money is not a thing. And that Presidents are subject to laws. (Oh, and release the Epstein Files.)

Not long ago, Elon Musk’s unprecedented election donations would have been illegal — but now it’s not thanks to a reckless Supreme Court and paralyzed FEC. Such spending should be made illegal again. bit.ly/4ykN5fi

Opinion: AI oligarchs wrote this. Only people who make money off this technology think it's as good as the real thing. The real thing is superior to AI *even if the result is identical* because higher education is about the one being educated not the result. I'm surprised you haven't learned that.

Opinion: If AI is now part of academic writing, what should institutions actually evaluate? This essay argues that analytical writing should be judged by evidence, structure, argument, and accountability not by guesses about how each sentence was produced. https://chroni.cl/4eDRdjg

This makes the plan obvious: cause enough service members to leave voluntarily so that those left are the most racist for when the military needs to be used against the populous.

Hecklers at Republican events get physically assaulted, while hecklers at Democratic ones get a civil exchange of views. And yet I'm pretty sure Tommy would've preferred the former this morning.

Unfortunately, many of us have lived this before, and everyone is aware of it. It is devastating, awful, preventable (gun laws), and sickening; but unfortunately completely "imaginable."
