if there's something unnerving i've tried to meditate on lately, it's using the words "content" and "media." there's a remedy for that i've tried to administer: expand my definition of art, and stop deprecating my imagination by treating things as "content" >

but this is a two-way street: if a creator treats their work like content, and presents it like content, then is that how it's going to be? consumed, digested, and passed? >

i think those using words lends itself to the irony-posting (or sincere?) that goes into haphazardly calling things "peak" or "mid." if we can be reductive in thinking of the things we enjoy as a Prepared-For-Taste product, then it allows us to be reductive in how we weigh it in our heart and mind >

if i made something with love, and all someone (who still really enjoyed it) had to say was that it was "peak," would i feel deflated? the hard part is that, currently, i'm self-conscious of being reductive myself by saying all this now >

i think the fear comes from that when i, inevitably, as a developer, want to be able to receive some kind of income for the things i create, will my work no longer be seen as art, and be subject to the scrutiny of content? does the "get that bag" mindset extend that far? thanks for listening

Art as a profession's all about balancing your own standards with consideration for time spent on a work, you may find yourself more often than not sinking far too much time into a single aspect of a project not realizing that there are other things in it that need more attention than refined detail
