society is so complex and everything is so interconnected. (yeah, i know, i'm a deep thinker.) for example. good EV charging infrastructure in the USA can't exist without social services, healthcare, drug treatment programs, living wages, and other steps to disincentivize selling scrap copper 🥲

In the EU, none of the charging stations have cables. People carry them in their cars. Which, if you think about it, makes a ton of sense. I don’t know how we ended up with this model.

Smaller ~11 kW chargers are basically a power outlet where the driver provides a cable, but 22 kW up to 400 kW chargers have a permanently attached cable. Source: I've recently charged in both the Netherlands and Sweden, and regularly see charging infrastructure in Finland.

Yeah, that‘s what most people forget when talking about saving the planet. W/o abolishing poverty and give everyone a decent standard of living, people are left behind. This manifest very clearly with EVs. Cars for people with money, 2/3 of society can’t afford. not only in the US.

Sadly that's something that happens everywhere. They also steal cables from train infrastructure which causes even more issues. And of course any construction site. Metal/copper theft is common all around the world.
