Nobody has ever enjoyed reading the code I wrote, whereas they have on occasion enjoyed my words and designs. That’s why I’m able to give the LLM code-writing tasks but not word-writing ones.

there’s an uncomfortable nuance probably worth diving into about the ethics of using generative AI to ship code versus generate art assets versus clone a person’s voice versus push slop to the algorithms. I truly don’t know where the line is. it’s frustrating

New paper in Nature where researchers measured impact of different Bluesky algorithms before & after the November 2024 election.

✨New paper out @nature.com ✨ For 8 weeks around the 2024 US election, we randomly assigned 2,000 people to use social media algos we built ourselves. Do engagement-based algorithms amplify intergroup, moral & emotional (IME) content—and does that distort how we see political norms? 🧵🔗 👇

Gentle reminder to choose your words carefully when discussing the end of a bromance between two increasingly erratic billionaires.

I know posting "the girls are fighting" seems funny, but it's actually insensitive and shitty. My father died in a girl fight. He tried to break it up and the girls pulled him apart like freshly baked bread. He didn't even scream. One moment he was there, the next just a spray of dad viscera.

The only meaningful problem with 23andMe going into bankruptcy is that they are the only way for people to obtain information about certain SNPs there *is no commercially available alternate test for* and your doctor cannot order and the specific genetic variant you carry can have treatment effects

These are unprecedented times, and they’ve been hard on all of us. In the face of global uncertainty, it’s easy for the smaller things to slip through the cracks. Thats’s why we were so concerned when we noticed you left an item in your cart but didn’t finish checking out
