It's like one of those Bethesda games where every time you even glance at shop's inventory the owner says "don't even think about it, thief!" even if you just literally saved their town from destruction.

Maybe like 7-ish years ago, my apartment faced an alley and one of the commercial bldgs on the other side of the alley put up one of these on the side of their building (it didn't talk - things weren't that stupid yet - but it was a motion sensor that had a high pitched erratic looping alarm).

But the god damn thing was pointed at the alley, so every time a car drove down said alley (which was CONSTANTLY) the proxy siren would go off. And after being triggered, it would loop for easily 3 minutes.

It was so god damn loud, I could hear it even with the windows closed. I called the city - there was no way this complied with noise bylaws - but ofc they didn't give a toss.

After several weeks of this, teetering on the edge of madness, I borrowed a collapsible ladder from a friend, got a pair of heavy duty snippers and climbed up on the roof of the bldg. I was able to reach over the edge, cut the cables holding the proxy alarm in place and I threw it in a dumpster.

Hey you, the guy who stopped because I started blaring alarms! Standing there to listen to this message is actually illegal and you owe me a thousand dollars!!
