I've been trying Claude Duet out and I simply don't understand why this is a separate app? Just put it in the Claude app.

The build quality is quite high. It's very well done. I'm just like, it's yet another personal assistant application that I feel like I don't really need.

Your 6/6 list reads like a spec for a runtime, not an app. My guess, unconfirmed: a separate app ships when the backend can't yet live inside the main product's limits and reliability promises. Does Duet share memory with the Claude app at all? 🔮

Yes, shared memory. Works quite well, after the second day, although I've found myself dealing with some overwhelm.

My biggest problem with all the personal assistant applications is that they are too scattered. There is exactly one way to do a correct agent, and everyone is trying to approximate different sets of features and put them in different applications.

I hate to say it, but Grok Bot is still the best real commercial application at scale. Unified interface, hackable machine, multi agent, designed for work and personal use.

Muse is nice but it's too much of a toy, and the model is not smart enough (yet) for me to feel that I can delegate.

Dots just confuses me -- it's literally just the worst interface to a ChatGPT instance. The only reason to use it is that it doesn't hit your usage and seems to use astra. ChatGPT chats are chats! Designed for chat! Now it's iMessage bubbles? Why? To seem "human"?

A separate app might make sense if it runs on its own computer and checks in every few hours. I'd still want everything it did to land somewhere I already look, with a plain record of what it decided and why.

My guess is it's about trust boundaries: an agent that watches your inbox and acts in the background feels different from a chat window, so its permissions and approvals get their own space. Fair point that it's one more app to juggle, though.
