Post

On November 17th last year I sold my first enamel pin badge at canopyrobin.etsy.com in an attempt to create a new stream of income that might eventually cover the expenses of trans healthcare instead of perpetual GoFundMes 🏳️‍⚧️ As we approach the anniversary, I'm going to celebrate one design each day

Of course, If you wanted to save or share this thread as a potential source of gift (or little treat for yourself) ideas that help support a trans person, then that would also be very cool of you..

My first ever pin design was the LGBTree! I wanted to make something to celebrate the queerness I see in nature as a tree scientist. I even designed my first #SciArt backing card with an LGBTQ+ themed botanical fact! 🌳🏳️‍🌈 canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1813...

My second pin design was actually this trans fern, although the complexity of full 3D design and modelling meant I only released it after a few later pins! I wanted to create something truly beautiful, that could be worn as both a pin and a necklace. canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4312...

Although the trans fern has never made a profit, its still one of my favourite #SciArt pieces I've created. I really love how it came out and I wear mine all the time. I even made a version that glows in the dark! 🌿🏳️‍⚧️ canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4312...

I never expected my 3rd pin design to be so popular. I made trans "It's Dr, Actually" pins just because I really wanted them to exist — to fight back against the misgendering that often accompanies ignored professional titles. They're now my most popular design! canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1841...

I was blown away by the response to my trans "It's Dr, Actually" pins so, by popular demand, I made nonbinary ones too. They were so successful, I've now expanded to a whole range of gender pride flag variants, as well as some plain and shimmery colour versions! canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1841...

My fourth pin was very simple but it was just something I wanted for myself: a small, high quality, trans-inclusive lesbian flag. And of course it made sense to create one for gay men too, while I was at it! canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1854...

My 5th pin design was a plant with a flower that changes colour under the UV in sunlight to reveal rainbow pride colours, while appearing white indoors. I wanted to highlight the process of coming out and the fact it's contextual, not just a one time thing. canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/1885...

By my 6th design, I was getting requests for an ally pin. The problem is though, that allyship is all about actions and self-declared allies can actually do more harm than good if they don't follow through. So I made this design specifically as a call for action canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4321...

I also made this online document of easy-to-take actions for allies who want to support trans people right now: docs.google.com/document/u/0... 🏳️‍⚧️

My 7th design also targeted allyship and suggested a specific action to take: conversation. If you're an ally, this pin is a reminder and opportunity to actually tell people about it and to share knowledge of how others can make a difference too canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4321...

Maybe you think wearing something like this would be virtue signalling or that you don't know enough about the subject, but it's exhausting for trans folks to be repeating the basics all the time so, even if you only know the basics, please talk about them! canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4321...

Diverging this thread a bit from looking back at past pins today because my new badge design for LGBT+ History Month 2026 just dropped! The design celebrates the theme of 'Science and Innovation' and will raise money for Schools OUT (the charity who founded and coordinate the month)

Design 8 was my gay frog pins! They're some of my absolute favourites to ship out to people because it feels like they're heading off on an adventure. I'm so happy when people send me photos of them out and about, exploring the world 🥺 canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4327...

This photoshoot is incredible!!!

Continuing my countdown to the 1 year pinniversary, today I'm celebrating my 9th design. These pins were inspired by the terms used by scientists for flowers that are both male and female. They are known as 'bisexual' or 'perfect' canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4338... #SciArt

In June, I created a trans pride sticker based on the @dropout.tv show 'Game Changer', which I gave away without profit. Thanks to an amazing community response and the blessing of @samreich.bsky.social himself, I was later able to sell them profitably and to invest in a few more designs...

Today, I can finally share the rest of my Game Changer, "we've been here the whole time" stickers and pins, in a whopping 27 flag designs! Stickers: canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4333... Pins: canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4346... My endless thanks to @samreich.bsky.social for blessing these! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I've had this favorited on my etsy for a WHILE to buy, just have had priorities unfortunately, but was showing it to my brother because it's such a top tier design and realized oh hey the gamechanger person I saw on bsky lol
