On November 17th last year I sold my first enamel pin badge at canopyrobin.etsy.com in an attempt to create a new stream of income that might eventually cover the expenses of trans healthcare instead of perpetual GoFundMes π³οΈββ§οΈ
As we approach the anniversary, I'm going to celebrate one design each day
Today is Intersex Awareness Day. I am intersex β and did not find out until I was 26!
Intersex people are also impacted by the decision in FWS, but this is much less talked about. Intersex people continue to be subjected to non-consensual medical interventions.
Intersex rights are human rights.
We believe that the public has the right to know the consequences of this policy change. So if NHS England wonβt publish the full assessment, we will.

The University of Leeds have requested the following clarification be added to our trans-inclusive fieldwork guidance. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings.
We're publishing new guidance to support trans people who do fieldwork (any work outside the office)!
Now we need your help to get them seen so please share! inclusivefieldwork.leeds.ac.uk/trans/

at the airport baggage claim, heard something metal hit the ground as I grabbed my suitcase
I couldn't see anything on the ground, but the guy next to me grabbed it, my pin from @canopyrobin.com that I thought was safely at my house
did it hitchhike with my suitcase? how'd it only fall out here?
Iβve been thinking about a study I read a year or two ago - I forget where I saw it - finding that even when women do get into leadership positions their teams and their work get systematically under-resourced. I cannot tell you why I am thinking about this, but I am.
The UK at the moment is a perfect example of what happens when you uncritically support and vote for a party all under the guise of βvote now, push them laterβ.
And if you donβt understand that, you have no reason or right to scold others for their feelings around voting for their oppressors.
So many people buried their heads in the sand this week saying that NHS segregation of trans people was "for their safety". But even internal NHS assessments say it will cause direct harm. Sex is not binary and trans people need respectful care based on actual physiology, not anti-trans slogans.
Hard to believe this new guidance to support trans fieldworkers has been seen over half a million times and is now being used by people, universities, NGOs, societies, and businesses all over the world.
Thanks to everyone who has already shared it. Please keep telling people about this! π³οΈββ§οΈππ§ͺ

Recovery in logged forests may be much slower than previously assumed!
Despite common expectations that logged tropical forests absorb large amounts of carbon as trees regrow, new research led by @amybenno.bsky.social suggests this may not be the case for some.

Very tempted to make a whole series about ways that well-meaning allies get it wrong and can be part of the problem. I wonder how it would be received...
Here's a whole thread about our trans inclusive guidance, including the website, a professional pdf you can print, cite, and share directly, and a professional animated guidance video.

Want to be hopeful and enjoy life, but most 'positivity content' makes you want to come out in hives?
Same.
A few tips for staying positive/hopeful without feeling gross:
-Acknowledge how fucking hard it is to find joy while the world is on fire,
-Stop being horrible to yourself. If you had someone following you around all day telling you you were an asshole, you'd probably struggle to enjoy your life. If that person is you, it's even worse, because you can't get away from them.
Let yourself feel it all and try not to judge any of it. You'll be surprised at how much joy creeps in alongside it all when you make more space.
-Enjoy absurdity. Being a weird little gremlin and laughing at dumb shit will improve your life immensely.
Helping spread the word about these brilliant guidelines that @canopyrobin.com and others have put together specifically for trans+ people (anywhere in the world) who do #fieldwork.
Please do share in any networks youβre part of where this might be relevant π€π³οΈββ§οΈπ€

I love how one of the most common comments on this video across platforms (outside the obvious subject) is people saying how cool @roseschmits.bsky.social's pottery is.
Thought I'd share this for any trans person (or ally!) that might need some extra guidance and support for doing work outside of office settings.
It seems really cool and has a lot of humanity built into the whole thing. Love this.

The final pre-recorded promo video for the trans fieldwork guidelines gets posted today! Can't wait to sign off and take a bit of a break after this project
This is one of those things I'm going to keep reposting until you're sick of it.
It's not just because I want to make sure everyone sees it. I want everyone to see it multiple times. I want it in your long-term memories so that it's something you use and share and don't forget when you scroll away
