Ive been playing the GBA/DS era Castlevania games for the first time recently and yeah having to actually THINK and remeber stuff and having some kind of challenge has been SO REFRESHING!!! No blue scent trail or witcher vision to directly tell me where to go or what to do. Just pure gaming.

My favorite examples are things like early Souls games, pre-World Monster Hunter, Vagrant Story, and the new Marathon.

Frustrating, meh. I can clearly engage with more difficult games that asks me to think and all. Frustration usually comes when the game feels either unfair or ask me to redo stuff I already succeed at multiple time (like backtracking after death) and it's just bothersome for nothing.

I should get back into Fez

The biggest thing I see people talking about is how they took away the contact damage from Medusa Heads, kept their old movement pattern, and minorly griping about how made them into grappling platforms. It's like, what's the point of them zig-zagging slowly up&down if you just pass through them?

I want more weird games that intrigue me but frustrate me initially that I only end up clicking with like years later to make them one of my favorites

yeah... I saw the review count on steam (80 total) and it hurts how poorly they promoted it. It's been the best by far though!
