I do feel like the South End and Allston are the 2 neighborhoods I never want to drive to bc car parking is so challenging I don't think this is a new phenomenon though!

Exactly! If there are places in Allston you refuse to go because you only want to travel by car, you're resigning yourself to missing out on the coolest parts of the neighborhood. (Never mind the fact that there actually is parking nearby, you might just have to pay a couple dollars)

I confess I did used to drive to the Allston Trader Joe's bc it has a parking garage I wouldn't be against biking there but I don't feel safe so end up driving (same old story about biking most places in Boston)

No shame in that! We were so close with the Western Ave bike lanes to making that corridor safer and more accessible to bikers, before getting the rug pulled out from us this winter

The protection on the lanes was removed during the blizzards, and it's been radio silence from the city about if they're being replaced. We got some really good protected bike infrastructure after advocating for it for years, and to have it removed with no communication is disheartening
