I know that it's a longstanding thing that people will try to make the website for their hobby thing look professional and overuse "professional" design language in a way that backfires horribly and makes them look worse, but I hate seeing it on hobby sites so much these days.

So many of them are copying the design language and wording of e-commerce sites and product pages... I usually end up bouncing off before I’ve even scrolled down.

So many "blog" templates on platforms like WordPress have that ecommerce look now. I've been using the default theme from 2014 since... 2014 (with some clumsy CSS hacks over the years) and every time I get tempted to update, the featured offerings just make me want to stick with what I have!

Yeah... it's even worse then the AI stuff is now writing the text for your website for you, and it's not just the layout.

It's really obvious that modern AI website generation stuff is tailored to business stuff, and people end up generating awkwardly-slick sites with sales slogans that read like you're trying to sell me a low-end B2B service or a vape or something. Even when there's nothing to sell at all.
