Anybody adopted the IPC-7352 land pattern naming convention for PCB footprints? I usually like to stay consistent with IPC recommendations, but I'm really not in love with some of the naming conventions in the spec... Trying to decide on whether to just use it as-is or go with something else.

I will mostly use them and then modify the description to be human readable. Often that includes the manufacturer specific package code (eg. TI - HBH0014A). PCBLibraries also put out a small update to the IPC standard to eliminate cases where different footprints will have the same name.

It looks like the "PCB Libraries" naming convention is actually what would have been in IPC-7351C (which was shelved in favor of the IPC-7352 standard which appears to have been pushed out with some odd naming choices) There's some interesting history here: www.pcblibraries.com/FORUM/topic3...
