I'll be speaking at @crowdsupply.bsky.social #Teardown2025 in just over a week! I'll walk through how to automatically generate a #KiCad database library based on part data stored in Aligni #PLM software. Slide deck PDF in the link below if you want to take a sneak peek: cgnd.dev/posts/teardo...

I'll be giving a talk at #KiCon next week about setting up a basic PLM integration with KiCad. If you're attending the conference, come say hi!

Anybody adopted the IPC-7352 land pattern naming convention for PCB footprints? I usually like to stay consistent with IPC recommendations, but I'm really not in love with some of the naming conventions in the spec... Trying to decide on whether to just use it as-is or go with something else.

PEP 751 has been accepted! peps.python.org/pep-0751/ This means #Python now has a lock file standard that can act as an export target for tools that can create some sort of lock file. And for some tools the format can act as their primary lock file format as well instead of some proprietary format.

If you've wanted to try #ZephyrRTOS but weren't sure where to start, I wrote up a quick start tutorial that can help you get started on the $5 @raspberrypi.com Pico 2 board--no other hardware or debuggers required!

This is seriously cool

The great thing about WASM and @pyodide support in marimo is that you can run Python snippets directly on your own blog or on your own documentation pages. We made a small tutorial 🎬 — Python on your own site is just an iframe away: youtu.be/W8nTSmZnQBs

For anybody that has read both "Computer Organization and Design" and "Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach" by Patterson/Hennessy, how would you describe the differences between these two books? (content, audience, etc) Are they essentially the undergrad/graduate texts respectively?

And a follow-up question: if you were picking between "Computer Organization and Design RISC-V Edition" by Patterson/Hennessy and "Digital Design and Computer Architecture, RISC-V Edition" by Harris^2 for an undergrad text, which would you pick and why?

Bluesky lazyweb question: If I change my handle here to a domain, what happens to existing links to my old posts? If I copy a link to one of my existing posts, it includes "cdwilson.bsky.social" in the URL slug. What happens to old links if somebody else picks up that username after I abandon it?

Hey bluesky, what's up? I will most probably be more active on mastodon, but let me share what I'm currently working on: Coming weekend I will be at #Supercon where lots of people will bring SAOs (Simple Add-ons) for the badge. One of my favorite SAOs I made, is TARS: hackaday.io/project/1980...

Got the PCBs in for the 🧼 #SAO last night lol This one started out with me trying to stick a SAO connector into an actual block of soap…turns out it's REAL hard to get things to stick to soap. So it became a PCB instead. hackaday.io/project/1984... if you want to follow along. #hackaday #supercon

Finally got this PCB assembled and tested with a #mikroe Click board that has a BME280 sensor. The backlit logo experiment turned out pretty neat looking! I don't actually have a real conference badge (yet), so I put together a quick “SAO host" #rpi #pico breakout board. #hackaday #supercon #SAO
