BREAKING: San Marcos just voted to prohibit data centers across the entire city. This is what happens when regular people stand up to the biggest corporations on earth. These corrupt bigshots may have money, but Texans still have the final say.

Thank you San Marcos, Hays County, Texas. NOW for every city, county, and state, SAY NO to DATA CENTERS. AND if data center billionaires continue to TRY buying local state politicians still press, say HELL NO.

This is good. It's like, if we had stopped all the mortgage madness in 2007, that financial crisis would never have happened.....because data centers are that mortgage crisis waiting to happen. I'm not gonna pay for AI, & just a few institutions are going to support it. It's gonna crash anyway.

The vote is only a milestone in the fight against capitalist interests. They will not stop trying to get what they want.

Yeah #CT, but did you see the breaking 'revoltin developments'(news)from the"TEXAS-PUBLIC-UTILITY-COMMISSION"allowing these"Surveillance-Gathering-Data-Centers"even more access to the GRID that means their utility bills will be"minimal+less than minimal" ntm, as ours go..."SKYHIGH",amirite "JigSaw"?

Thank you San Marcos. As usual politicians are attempting to make decisions that will inevitably harm the people, while benefiting the billionaires (& the trillionaire), while destroying the lives of millions. I believe the best response to this is to tell the “data Center” owners 🖕🏻

We DON'T NEED ANY FUCKING DATA CENTERS ANYWHERE!!!! THEY WILL ONLY STEAL ALL THE RESOURCES AND ONLY BENEFIT THE EPSTEIN CLASS.

Bleed those beasts. & get the fuck off your phone people. In Europe the kids can’t even use them till they’re 16.How about we step up here? We the people need to slough off our capitalist masters. No more wage slavery. No more corporate owned candidates and representatives. Wake up mindless consumers.

I think it's awesome that they did this. However, I worry that Trump is going to declare these data centers run by his rich "friends" to be a "matter of national security" and not only override prohibitions like this, but also declare they get priority over electricity and water.

I'm in Michigan and after a local community voted No on a data center the lawyers rolled in, had the land re-zoned and they built it anyhow. Hoping your resolution didn't leave a similar "end-around" for the DC company

Yeah, that's always the concern. In normal times we could point to the half dozen or so endangered species in the river/aquifer as a legal reason, but since the state & feds are on the side of these developers, it probably wouldn't matter.

it's great that the San Marcos city council voted with their constituents...I've seen too many examples of a mass organization against data centers but the city govt going ahead and passing them anyway

Corporations exist because we allow them to. We hold the purse strings; never forget that. Our approval keeps them alive. Our money is their oxygen. Without us, they collapse. Media, tech, retail; doesn’t matter. They answer to consumers...to us.

Crazy as it may seem rural Texans realize how devastating these data centers are for the water electric rates and the tax rates( because they demand no sells tax and reduction or elimination of school and property taxes) in their counties and are rebelling against the Trumplicans in power.

The framers of our constitution would be very disappointed that we are not fighting harder against this regime. It appears as if we have surrendered when we are not visibly protesting. They are gaining more power and we are going to be too late to stop them if we do not act now. REPOST THIS!

Wait, you mean despite getting threatening letter from their superiors, the city council showed …courage?San Marcos will pay for that, and be sued into submission. Bow down like Granbury. Just obey. “Trump will fix everything.”

Texas leads the country in Data Center build plans right now. Texans better keep that pushback going strong. Abbott and Paxton want those kickbacks and residuals. Do NOT let them win!!!

Good job San Marcos! I wish my community government had the same amount of common sense. Letting the tech bros build something like this in your community is just plain dumb. Huge cost, zero benefit. Why do we even consider it?
