Breaking News! The preliminary Nino 3.4 sea-surface temperature anomaly for Sept. 29th came in at 3.18°C above the 1991-2020 baseline. This marks yet another record all-time high and the 123rd consecutive record daily high at 1.1°C above the previous daily record set in 1997.

To bequeath to? Everyone is in the same boat. The social disorder that will eventually unfold as coastal cities face the destructive consequences of rising air and sea temperatures from GHGs, plus record El Niño events, makes you wonder when a rapid, major climate tipping point will occur.

I put Prof. Eliot's post into Gemini along with my location & asked how I would be affected (it said to expect warmer temps and water issues). I suppose that's "my boat". Other parts of the world won't be so lucky, and some may be devastated, which will likely have local ramifications (food supply).

Low-lying islands and coastal cities will probably be the first to succumb, but when and where remains speculative because weather patterns are random and tipping points are unknown. We’ll only know after it happens. I guess satellite storm development and tracking will become extremely important.

It looks like a monster on Climate Reanalyzer anomaly map, no other El Niño is this solid and developed and red, and now theres white (+5 C) bands forming. Its going to look so weird in November.

Maybe a video showing just the 1986, then add 1991, then 1996, then add 2001, drop 1986 add 2006 ... continue ... This would give us a better understanding of the situation without overwhelming our perceptions! Maybe add a number of severe storms, warm and cold for each line as well!

Being closer to 80 than to 70, and being the old sod that I am, I doubt that I have the patience and the expertise required to find the basic data and organize it into a slideshow that would be as meaningful as some people would like, myself included!

The following seems likely (above 95% certain): 3.5C by 15 October 2026 4.0C by 30 November 2026 4.5C by 31 December 2026 (more uncertainty - peak could be lower or much, much higher)
