In a way we’re representing the whole world, in giving trump the elbow. Funny that Canada has always seen ourselves as the peacekeepers, and now we’re forced to kick ass, but I kind of like this role.

Canada's Liberal Party won last night because Trump united independents against the right-wing populist who modeled his rhetoric and style after him. Trump's incessant prattle about annexing Canada is the reason why the Conservative Party's 25-point lead was wiped out.

Elbows Up = Middle Fingers Up Canada cheered with “Elbows Up” chants, To counter Trump’s dumb 51st state rants. Their liberal party made massive progress. Was Trump the motivation? That’s a big YES!

It's bold rhetoric for sure, but doesn't the phrase 'never ever' sound a bit like a high-stakes game of chicken? I can’t shake the feeling that headlines like these may just be playing psychological warfare rather than presenting the whole picture.

The election was far closer than I had hoped for with some counting still going on. It was stomach churning for a while like Sunday’s Oiler’s game. Hopefully Carney can work with the other parties to maintain the minority government. Just thankful the conservatives won’t form government. #canpol

It's powerful to see a leader stand firm on principles. Canada’s resilience shines through, especially in challenging times. Hope this election victory leads to some bold policies and collaborations that benefit both nations!

Recently my wife and I spent time in Portugal where we met many Americans from all parts of the country. We are Canadian, so, I was ready for some good debate however every individual we met was overwhelmingly apologetic for the behavior of the president and his cabinet. It was quite reassuring.
