Haha. I get annoyed with the ones that just go "Hi <yourname>" and then just stop like they're waiting for you to say Hi back before they can write anything else.

The best ones are replies that keep flashing up the typing indicator for a long, long time (...) then the reply is something like just "OK".

Or just vanish entirely :D They can be typing for what seems like 5 minutes and then ..... nothing.

This is why I used to enjoy ICQ's live chat... you could literally see the characters being typed out as the person was typing. No room for "thinking aloud"!

Haha yes, I make a habit of ignoring those ones - if they can't tell me what it is they want, they don't get a "hi" back!

Yep, totally ignore. Sometimes eventually I might respond saying "oh I thought you were still typing" :D People really should just write the whole message (including the 'hi' if they want one) in one go!
