I saw this on the Eiffel Tower of all places, over 20 years ago. There was a space between the flat elevator platform and the doors. We all gasped seeing a little blonde girl on that tiny ledge as the elevator ascended. She was safe in the end, but I will never forget the visceral horror I felt.

I read an article about this a couple of years ago that will haunt me for the rest of my life. It would cost very little to fix this but of course elevator companies would rather crush children to death than cut into their profits.

A space guard for an elevator is not as cool as what I think of when I hear "space guard", but still very important.

I like that they are named after the lord's prayer, as in, that's what's going through your head before you hop on one (the other thing that goes through your head is the ceiling).
