Voting is only possible at election time. Direct action can be applied all year round. Voting is only useful for addressing whatever topics are in the candidates' current political agendas. Direct action can be applied in every aspect of life. Unlike elections, direct action is under your control.

Voting consolidates the power of our whole society in the hands of a few politicians, keeping everyone else in a position of dependence. Through direct action, we become familiar with the resources and capabilities and initiative of our communities, discovering how much we can accomplish together.

Even when our preferred candidates win and introduce the policies we desire, another election can snatch all those gains away. Only that which we gain by our own collective strength cannot be taken from us. Let's start building that strength. We desperately need profound social change.
