Today’s presidential election could be a watershed moment for Brazilian democracy. The country could take an authoritarian turn if the son of the former president—who is currently imprisoned for an attempted coup—is elected.

Anarchists and anti-fascists on the streets of Brazil warn that the Workers' Party’s policy of "class conciliation" serves as an ineffective barrier against the rise of fascism within democratic institutions.

Politicians and police believe that they control what happens. Hundreds of thousands people started their weekend by taking to the streets and rejecting French government's "ban" on protest, despite President Macron's police enforcers in the tens of thousands and their high powered water cannons.

Anyone who has been paying attention has known for years that Trump will not leave power voluntarily. This time, he has installed loyalists atop all of the agencies that refused to support him in 2020. That means we need strategies to exert leverage via direct action. crimethinc.com/TurningTide

Panning back through history, we can see that the US government has made cars essential, suppressing public transit options. Now ICE can accuse almost anyone of having a weapon, and justify murdering them. Compare this with the prevalence of guns, which also serve as excuses for police murder.

ICE mercenaries weaponize their vehicles on a daily basis, driving at demonstrators, crashing into drivers, and threatening crowds with their cars. As usual, "He weaponized his vehicle" is an accusation in the mirror. Every word from ICE and DHS is an outright lie. bsky.app/profile/igd....

Oklahoma and Florida lawmakers passed laws guaranteeing immunity to drivers who hit demonstrators with vehicles, effectively giving vigilantes the right to crash cars into demonstrators. This is a way to persuade the public that cars are weapons rather than means of transportation.
