Elon Musk has spent more money on American elections in the last two years than George Soros has in his entire life.

Assuming these numbers are correct (I imagine they are), it does ignore that Soros contributes to advocacy / policy think tanks. Those are designed to influence policy / elections, but in an attenuated way. (I'd also argue it's a "better way", regardless of anyone's opinions on those entities.) +
