Wow, can't wait to know what you think!

I've been looking for a Pinterest replacement for a while now. Tired of the ads, promoted Pins, AI-generated images, decreasing quality of search results. Just read about image clipper @currents.is in @tynanpurdy.com 's blog on @pckt.blog. Intrigued! Looking forward to trying.

They're not used to train any generative-AI model. We may try to train some models to help with moderation, like nsfw classifiers, or a model that tries to detect AI-generated images automatically. This won't happen soon and, if/when it will happen, we'll make sure to ask users for permission.

Thanks for the transparency. Someone just told me to the fact (pls correct if wrong) that the developer behind Currents is known for AI and data farming projects. It would be good for Currents to clarify exactly how data is going to be used, to prevent misunderstandings. Thanks so much!

I'm the developer behind Currents. I've worked in the AI field, and I still do to some extent. I have to say AI is a very broad field, and I don't consider anything AI-related intrinsically bad. Also, I've never done any data farming project, so that person is defaming me.

Perhaps I'm mistaken about Currents being like Pinterest? Or at least how I use Pinterest (I don't upload images to Pinterest, but save images that I find online).

Yes, it's like Pinterest! You can save images from feeds or from any website. That view is from the personal feed, which is empty because you didn't save anything yet, so there can't be a personalized feed. Clicking on the "Explore the general feed" you'll be able to save images from it.

I strongly suggest adding an About page and/or Help page, so new users (esp non-techie users who are just used to Pinterest) have an easier time on-boarding?

I have also installed the Currents browser extension (I'm using Chrome), but it seems to just be a link to my Currents account e.g. I can't use it to save any images. Or am I using it incorrectly?

The extension currently works by right clicking an image on a website and clicking on "Save to Currents" option. But thank you for pointing out it should work also by clicking the extension icon for the page itself, that will be implemented for sure!
