The no tax on tips thing IS a nonsense scam. But the meme is incorrect (and it undermines our credibility when we post erroneous stuff). Non-itemizers CAN take the deduction, and you CAN earn more than 25k. (You just can’t deduct more than 25k of yr income).

I just don’t want to keep fact checking people and pages I follow everytime they post. You don’t have to share or post lies. Things are bad enough. It is exhausting going through so much content. I just want facts. Not this stuff. And it just adds to the exhaustion.

Most earn less then 25 without tips. They're paid less then minimum wage. Much less money to ss for their future, lower credit rating, less chance of owning a home or their future, it'll cost them more for their future.

1/ Honestly I'm glad it expires. It's not good policy. All it does it further normalize tipping and risk moving it to other industries (it would be very terrible if we had to tip doctors because then your care would be even more based on how much money you have).

3/ Also another problem with tipping is that certain people receive less tips based on things like their race, gender and physical appearance. I wish people were not biased this way but sadly it's still a problem. Having fair wages without needing tips would help promote equality.

Fucking over the middle and especially the working poor, is what republicans DO! Billionaires love watching the working poor vote against unions and fair wages, over a trans person playing a sport.

Same with No Tax on Social Security. BIG LIE. Those receiving under a certain amount of SS will possibly get a tax deduction when preparing Federal Tax Returns but only for set number of years while tax cuts for the wealthy are now permanent.

I'd wager, not one MAGA is even aware that most of the bill's provisions won't be enacted until 2026, after mid terms. They did that so; IF we're allowed mid term elections & Democrats regain control, they'll blame Democrats for the hugely unpopular, unsuccessful, & harmful policies of Republicans

While the tax bill is ugly and terrible. This is just not factually accurate. You do not have to itemize to take the deduction. The same is true on overtime. However it does phase out and most will not get the total deduction- if any.

Look at how he is gutting the department of education. Trump and MAGA republicans don’t want an educated electorate they want to keep people dumb so they can manipulate with conspiracy theories, and baseless fear mongering so they support them and vote against their own interests.

Trying to clarify. ChatGPT says this is an above the line deduction and not tied to itemization. And that it does apply if you make over 25k, you can only deduct up to 25k Which makes this video wrong. Someone explain
