I've done some foundations for characters behaviours and I couldn't stop myself from taking a break to play a *finally* alive game 😍⛪ For now it's just some basic idle behaviours - but more are coming!

Cool, I love the style of this and the UI sounds are *SO* satisfying!! What sort of AI system are you using to manage behaviours, if you don't mind me asking? FSMs, Behaviour trees, Utility AI...?

Nah, im making a game in Unity. Just my own tasks system, that allows creation of saveble lightweight tasks and creation of subsystem that are their logic. So basically utility AI decides - character needs to eat, finds group of possible actions to do, chooses one -> and action generates tasks.

ok the little idle animations already make it feel ALIVE 😭⛪ something about tiny moving people just hits different. can't wait to see what they do once they have actual behaviors!

oooh 'more behaviors coming later' is the best kind of teaser 👀 the suspense of knowing there's more life to add... what kinds of things are you thinking? pathfinding? social interactions between them?

Pathfinding is there already. Those behaviours are their decision making system - and every behaviour is basically something like characters deciding 'i need to eat', 'i want to talk', 'i can work now'. When character chooses what it wants to do - then it needs to select an action.

Looks like fun! Your process is similar to mine when crafting a story; bits and pieces of information; conversations with characters who complain i'm not telling their stories properly; and on and on. Good to take time to play with it when things get intense and opaque.
