im traveling and really want to get to know the location, but all the online articles i’m finding are generated 😩 the only hack to find human voice seems to be to walk into a curated bookstore and purchase material published before 2022

i literally feel phished when i start reading a local‘s blog post only to realize it’s generated by AI like i could have asked an LLM myself and the output would have been better??

I've been encountering this with anything related to food/cooking. I'm not surprised travel is a targeted subject for content farming

definitely! i often start off getting broad overviews from wikipedia. it’s not gonna tell me the surf spots though 🙂 i was hoping for a “mountain project for surfing” (crowdsourced with spicy comments from locals and visitors alike)

IDK how it is with surf spots but I suspect mediocre... But I use OSM a lot while travelling! You often get a lot more weird specific details about sculptures in the area or stuff to see on hiking trails.
