Part of me really wants to be hopeful. The overriding, cynical part makes me feel like this is the first step for them going after Sunrise for having a competing product after pressure. I'm seeing "we won", but we need to wait and see what the prize actually is.

Dude, it's Bungie. Knife after knife after knife after knife after knife after knife in the back. While you should indeed consider as many possibilities as you can, the "overriding, cynical" part should absolutely be at the front of your mind. It has to be when dealing with them at this point.

it’s been exactly 4 months. i’m fairly certain this sort of thing has been in discussion as a possibility far longer than the sunrise debacle.
